James L. Horrar - President & CEO
Jim Horrar is President and CEO of Quorum Health Resources (QHR), the dominant market leader in hospital management services in the U.S., with nearly 150 not-for-profit hospital clients representing $6.6 billion in Net Patient Revenue and more than 48,000 employees. Under Jim’s strategic direction, QHR Consulting has improved from thirteenth to seventh largest healthcare management consulting firm in the country, in Modern Healthcare’s ranking, with annual net consulting revenues of more than $100 million. Jim has driven significant improvements in client hospital performance and increased client retention to an all time high. He has also added several new business units to expand QHR’s ability to meet market needs for healthcare management and consulting.
Jim has worked in the healthcare industry for 20 years, specifically in the areas of operations, management engineering, managed care, medical and utilization management, finance, compliance and business development. Before joining QHR in 2008, Jim served in a variety of executive roles at Humana, including Chief Operations Officer of Humana’s largest commercial market and as East Region Vice President of National Contracting.
Rosemary M. Guffy - Chief Financial Officer
Rosemary Guffy is responsible for all corporate accounting and financial reporting for QHR and its subsidiaries; she also oversees the company’s IT and Office Services departments. In previous positions within QHR, Rosemary served as controller of QHR and as CFO of one of QHR’s managed facilities. Prior to joining QHR, she was a senior accountant with Baird, Kurtz and Dobson.
Robert A. Vento - Senior Vice President, Operations
Bob Vento is responsible for management operations and consulting service delivery at Quorum Health Resources. In addition, he oversees the AHFD business unit. Previously, Bob served as president of the QHR Management Division.
Bob brings more than 25 years of progressive healthcare experience to QHR and its clients. His ability to understand and meet client needs, create new business opportunities, and develop successful management teams is virtually unmatched in this industry. Prior to joining QHR, Bob served Epic Healthcare Services as chief operating officer and director of Corporate Utilization Management. He also served as administrator at Denton Regional Medical Center and as chief operating officer at North Texas Physicians and Surgeons, P.A.
Timothy J. Ryan - Senior Vice President, Consulting
Tim Ryan is responsible for overseeing QHR Consulting, which is comprised of Management and Leadership, Revenue Cycle and Clinical Operations practices. With more than 20 years of healthcare experience, he is a proven leader in financial and operational management.
Prior to joining QHR, Tim was a principal in RMC Consulting, LLC. He also served as chief financial officer for Health Partners of the Midwest, Memorial Sisters of Charity Health Plan, and Uniformed Services Family Health Plan.
Herrick A. Drake, JR - Senior Vice President, Business Development
Rick Drake has more than 30 years’ experience and expertise in business development and sales. At QHR, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of new-client business development, including building, training and maintaining a world-class sales team. Rick is also charged with developing strategies that will successfully broaden Quorum’s client base – allowing the company to expand into new markets and hospital sectors.
Prior to joining QHR, Rick served as vice president of Client Management for UnitedHealthcare National Accounts; vice president of Business Development for DreamReacher, Inc.; and vice president of Market Development for Cigna Reinsurance. He also served College Savings Bank and Aetna Life and Casualty in a variety of senior-level positions.
Linda K. Parsons - Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Senior Vice President of Human Resources Linda Parsons is a veteran of the healthcare industry with more than 20 years of experience. Previously, she oversaw the Human Resources department at Community Health Systems, where she is credited with building the department from the ground up – having authored all of the company’s HR policies, procedures, handbooks and benefit communications, as well as managing all of its health/welfare and retirement plans.
Susan S. Hassell - Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications
Susan Hassell leads QHR’s strategic marketing efforts, oversees internal corporate communications and is QHR’s corporate spokesperson. She manages QHR’s brand and supports the business development process with innovate lead generation strategies. Susan also provides marketing and public relations support to the company’s client hospitals. She has more than 20 years of marketing, strategic planning and public relations experience with QHR.
Prior to joining QHR, Susan was a strategic planning and marketing consultant with HCA Management Company. She also served as marketing support manager for Technical Marketing Systems and manager of Consumer and Trade Communications for Converse, Inc.
C.E. “Mickey” Bilbrey - Vice President, Eastern Operations
Mickey Bilbrey has extensive operations experience in hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers, including President and CEO of The University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, and CEO of Empire Health Services in Spokane, Washington. Most recently, he was a Senior Managing Director for Phase 2 Consulting, where his principle focus was strategic planning, physician/hospital integration, financial and operational turnarounds, and strategic restructuring of clinical services.
At QHR, Mickey oversees the operations and development of QHR’s hospital management and consulting contracts, Eastern Division, which includes approximately 70 hospitals in more than 20 states.
William Donatelli - Vice President, Western Operations
Bill Donatelli has more than 25 years of hospital experience and expertise. As vice president of QHR’s Western Region, he oversees the operations and development of the company’s management and consulting contracts in the Western United States, serving approximately 80 hospitals in 26 states. In addition, Bill serves on the faculty of the QHR Learning Institute.
Previously, Bill served as a QHR regional vice president. In this position, he worked closely with the Board of Trustees and senior management teams of the hospitals in his region – guiding efforts in strategic planning, hospital operations and medical staff relations, among other things. Bill has also served as CEO of two hospitals in the Northeast.
Joan E. Signorille - Vice President, Quorum Purchasing Advantage
Joan Signorille is charged with managing Quorum Purchasing Advantage, which oversees vendor contracts, identifies new opportunities, and provides education, guidance and assistance to QHR hospital clients in the management of their supply and services expenses. She is also responsible for the development of new supply chain products and services and oversees Managed Care Consulting.
Prior to joining QPA, Joan served as director of Network Management of CIGNA HealthCare of Tennessee, where she was responsible for provider contracting and service strategy and implementation. She also served Humana, Inc. for nearly 10 years in a variety of capacities.
D. Robert Wiemer - Vice President, QHR Learning Institute
Bob Wiemer provides strategic guidance for and manages the day-to-day operations of the QHR Learning Institute. He has spent more than 15 years in increasingly responsible positions in the healthcare industry, including over 10 years in the field of healthcare education. A key priority for Bob is to develop new initiatives that will advance the Learning Institute’s market position and expand its role in healthcare management education.
Previously, Bob served as vice president, Operations and Workforce Development, at HealthStream, Inc. He was also senior director, Emergency Medical Services Division, at HealthStream EMS.
J. Exley Hill - President, American Health Facilities Development (AHFD)
Exley Hill brings more than 33 years of healthcare planning and project management experience to his position with AHFD. He has personally directed the design and construction of more than 125 hospital projects ranging in value from $350,000 to $185,000,000. Exley’s leadership and experience encompass all facets of hospital planning and project management; i.e. facility master planning, site selection / analysis, budgeting, design, risk management, value engineering, scheduling, construction and occupancy planning.
Prior to joining AHFD, Exley served as assistant vice president of Design and Construction at Hospital Corporation of America. He was also a project engineer at Blount Brothers Corporation.
James Leonard - Vice President, Information Technology
Jim Leonard has 30 years of IT experience, including more than 20 years in the healthcare industry. As QHR’s Information Technology practice leader, he is responsible for managing hospital IT and EMR assessments; developing hospital IT strategic plans; guiding vendor evaluations, selections and system implementations; and leading QHR’s Web Site Hosting and Development Services team. His primary goal for QHR’s Information Technology consulting practice is to provide engagements that foster both enhanced utilization of existing IT systems and higher quality implementations of new systems.
Previously, Jim served as Chief Information Officer at The Regional Medical Center (The MED) in Memphis, Tenn., a 650-bed tertiary medical center and Level 1 Trauma Center. There, he oversaw all IT and telecommunications operations and maintenance for the second busiest trauma center in the country.
