QHR Template Brings User-Friendliness, Interactivity to Site
On-line bill payment… Patient greeting cards… Searchable physician database… On-line job applications… All of these features, and more, are now part of Northwestern Medical Center’s recently renovated website, located at www.northwesternmedicalcenter.org.
The new website was created with the QHR website template by Natalie Lurry, QHR Website Developer, in collaboration with Jennifer Savage, NMC’s Community Relations Specialist.
“We’re very excited about our new on-line presence,” says Savage. “Our old site wasn’t much more than a billboard for our hospital, and it had gotten tired and easily outdated.”
Savage says that the new site was designed with patients and visitors in mind, offering many features designed to make their experience with the hospital easier and more comfortable. For example, by accessing the e-greeting card feature, a friend or family member of a patient can visit the website and choose from a range of available greetings and add a personal message. The card will be printed and delivered directly to the patient’s room.
Another interactive feature of the new website is an online job application. Once a person has searched through available job openings, s/he now has the ability to apply directly for that position through a fill-in form, and submit it directly to the Human Resources Department for processing.
The site also allows for on-line bill payment of hospital bills. Through a secure form, patients enter their billing and credit card information at any time of the day or night, which is then processed by NMC’s patient accounting staff. “We’re hoping that our patients will find this feature to be very useful,” says Savage. “This feature keeps us in line with the digital age, and offers a more convenient way for patients to pay their hospital bills.”
Savage adds, “We have a strong commitment to keeping the new site active and up-to-date, with plans already in the works to add new features in the coming months, like a secure on-line baby nursery for new parents to show off their newborns to friends and family, and on-line class registration for programs offered through the Center for Health and Wellness.”
