Client Challenge
Following years of strong financial performance, this health care system experienced a recent down
turn. The system’s senior management team, led by the CEO, proactively developed a plan to reestablish
profitability to its former level. The team asked QHR Strategic Initiatives (SI) to review the plan as well as
conduct a staffing assessment and an in-depth review of its Revenue Cycle and Supply Chain areas.
Timely Solutions
The SI professionals conducted the engagement over a ninety-day period. The senior management team
received confirmation that some of the plan was on target, and expert advice on how to make improvements
to the plan. SI consultants identified further opportunities for meaningful improvements in systems and
procedures following the functional area assessments.
Featured Results
Working closely with the senior management team, SI identified additional opportunities on the revenue side
exceeding $2M and on the expense side exceeding $2.5M. In addition, SI identified and recommended a
process for one time cash flow enhance of $3.9M in accounts receivable. The senior management team
re-worked their initial plan to incorporate SI’s recommendations. With strong CEO leadership in place, the
team is aggressively moving forward and to-date is generating positive financials on a month to month basis.
